Attending routine check-ups with your dentist is important for your oral health. The examination includes a thorough check of your teeth and gums, x-rays if needed, oral health advice, oral cancer check and a treatment plan if needed. Hygiene treatments are important for removing plaque that your toothbrush and dental floss cannot get rid of and for cleaning deeper into your gums. On your first visit your dentist will recommend a dental plan.
The term "restorative dentistry" is the management of oral health problems and restoring of the mouth to a functional and aesthetic state. Basically its aim is to maintain the integrity of the teeth and gums as much as possible. Procedures include fillings, veneers, crowns, bridges, full and partial dentures and dental implants. Our team perform restorative dentistry every day and are committed to delivering gentle treatments with minimal discomfort.
We appreciate that some patients find coming to the dentist mildly worrisome at best, to extremely nerve-racking at worse. We have cared for many patients over the years and are committed to making your experience a positive one. Come in for a discussion with the dentist prior to any treatment and we can work out how to manage treatment in a way that works for you.
Root canal treatment is an often straightforward procedure to relieve dental pain and save your teeth. Patients typically need a root canal when there is inflammation or infection in the roots of a tooth. During root canal treatment the dentist carefully removes the pulp inside the tooth, cleans, disinfects and shapes the root canals, and places a filling to seal the space.
Dental implants are long term solutions to replace missing teeth. They work by placing a titanium screw in the jaw bone and then fixing a crown on top that will look and function just like your natural tooth. They can be used to replace a single missing tooth or several. We always ensure that you fully understand all your options, as well as the dental implant procedure.
Teeth whitening is one of the fastest and most effective ways to enhance your smile, and a simple anti-ageing procedure. We provide both laser and at-home teeth whitening treatments. Our dentists will discuss the options and help you determine the most effective solution for you.
Orthodontics is a speciality of dentistry. The word “orthodontics” is derived from the Greek words ‘orthos’ meaning proper or straight, and ‘odons’ meaning teeth. Orthodontics is specifically concerned with diagnosing and treating tooth misalignment and irregularity in the jaw area. Initially orthodontic treatments were geared toward the treatment of teens and pre-teens, but these days at least half of our orthodontic patients are adults. We are experienced in treating young and older patients, and our oldest patient is 68 years!
Teeth grinding, medically called bruxism, does not usually cause harm, but when teeth grinding occurs on a regular basis the teeth can be damaged and other health complications can arise such as stiff or fatigued jaw muscles when you wake in the morning, headaches, neck aches, sensitive teeth, jaw pain and clicking when opening or closing your mouth. Your dentist can provide treatment options.
